## Y617: Psychometric Theory

### Class Description

The purpose of this course is to learn about psychometric theories including Classical Test Theory (CTT) and Item Response Theory (IRT). The following topics are generally addressed: (1) the concepts of reliability (and validity) and the assumptions on which they rest in the context of educational and psychological measurement, (2) the concepts of person and item parameter estimates, (3) the mathematical models underlying these concepts and the foundations of test theory, (4) the application of these concepts to problems of measurement, and (5) the use of specialized measurement software for data analysis.
